Photography Policy

We believe in the power of photos to inspire, connect, and celebrate.

Sharing real images of parents getting outdoors with their babies can help to break down barriers, encourage others to join in, and also highlights the warmth and diversity of our community. These moments showcase that adventures with little ones are for everyone.

At the same time, protecting your privacy, especially that of babies and children, is very important to us. That’s why it’s our policy to always cover children’s faces in publicly shared photos unless we have explicit permission from a parent to share their child’s face.

We know that photos taken on our walks often capture some of the most cherished memories from our babies’ early years, so whether you’re snapping a photo or posing for one, here are some good practices to follow:

When Taking Photos on Group Walks:

  • Let Others Know First: Please let the group know before taking a photo so everyone has the chance to opt out if they wish.

  • Focus on Your Child: Aim to take photos of your own child or capture group moments from behind, so other children aren’t photographed face-on.

  • Respect Personal Choices: If someone prefers not to be in a photo, they’re encouraged to let you know, step out of the shot, or turn away. Please be mindful that there are a whole host of reasons why someone doesn’t want, or can’t, be in a photograph.

Sharing Photos After a Walk:

  • Share Privately First: Post your photos in the private group for attendees to see and enjoy.

  • Cover Faces Before Posting Publicly: If you’d like to share walk photos on social media or elsewhere outside the private group, remember to cover all babies’ faces unless you’ve received specific parental permission.

If You Have Concerns About Photos:

If a photo of your baby is shared within the private group and you’d prefer it not to be there, let your local Organiser know, and they’ll happily remove it.

Use of Photos by Blaze Trails:

Photos shared on our Mighty Networks groups may occasionally be reposted publicly by the Blaze Trails team to inspire more families to explore the outdoors. Don’t worry, we’ll always cover babies’ and children’s faces before publishing.
