Safer Community Policy
At Blaze Trails CIC, our ethos is built on respect, inclusivity, and community spirit. Upholding these values is essential in ensuring a positive and supportive experience for everyone who joins our walks. While we trust that participants and volunteers will uphold these principles, we recognise that situations may arise where someone’s behaviour does not align with our ethos.
Steps We Take in These Situations
Open Communication
If someone’s behaviour does not reflect the Blaze Trails ethos, we will first address the issue with kindness and understanding. A member of the core volunteering team will have a private conversation with the individual to explain the concern and give them an opportunity to share their perspective.
Education and Clarification
We will take the time to remind the individual of the values that guide Blaze Trails, including respect for others, safety, and inclusivity. We aim to help them understand how their actions may impact the group and encourage positive change.
Warning
If the behaviour persists or is more serious, a formal warning may be issued. This will outline the specific concerns and set clear expectations for improvement.
Exclusion from Future Walks
In cases of repeated or severe breaches of the Blaze Trails ethos, we may ask the individual to refrain from attending future walks. This decision will only be made after careful consideration and consultation with the core team to ensure fairness and proportionality.
Examples of Behaviour That May Breach the Blaze Trails Ethos
Disrespectful or exclusionary behaviour toward other participants.
Actions that compromise the safety or well-being of the group.
Persistent disregard for the guidance and decisions of walk organisers.
Sharing photographs or personal information of participants without consent.
Our Commitment
Blaze Trails is dedicated to creating a welcoming and safe environment for all. Any concerns will be handled with compassion and fairness, with a focus on encouraging positive outcomes. Our goal is always to foster understanding and encourage a return to the positive values that make Blaze Trails a special place.
If you have any concerns about inappropriate behaviour, please speak to your walk organiser or the Blaze Trails core team. We are here to listen and support.
